"Originally, Alien Planetscapes (AP) was intended to bring the concepts of free jazz improvistation to the Electronic Music (EM) of the Berlin school of EM, which I had been listening to since 1971, when I discovered Tangerine Dream (TD), Ash Ra Temple and others from Germany. Another influence was Baltimore based Tangent, who'd been playing TD influenced music in the US in 1977 (I got into them from their ads in Trouser Press). Also my association with Barney Jones (RIP) and Mars Everywhere was crucila in solidifying my interest in the SpaceRock form on the east coast. Forming the band was my reaction to my previous band (YETI), which played an intense form of Elctronic Free Jazz; there was a desire on my part to dispence with the drums and guitars, in favor of more elastic rhythms approaches from sequencers, and more reptition of said rhythmic materials!." Doug Walker died April 5th 2006 & Fran died in 2003 from a horrible car accident around October of that year. Tawyna & I traveled up to visit on a tour of sorts some 18 years ago for stays & recording sessions etc with Doug Walker, Al Margolis & Carl Howard in the New York area & on to Boston for stuff with Mike Jackson & Dave Prescott. I went back again a few years later for some sessions with Doug at the St. Albans studio this time & of course to see & meet Evan as well as sessions with Carl Howard, Louis Boone, Mike Jackson & Reginald Taylor. Doug visited here before our trips up there for a spot of live recording & some sessions with Viktimized Karcass as did Carl Howard. Enough of the brief history. Alien Planetscapes began in 1981, Doug Walker & Fran & Evan were good friends of mine & Tawnya's & are deeply missed. We love you guys!! This page contains the Old Harsh Reality Music cassette releases remastered to CDR, new artwork & so on. Most of them are double cds because of the length of the cassette releases. You will find some mp3 previews of the music here as well available to stream in HiFI & LoFi. All proceeds from the sale of any of these cdrs shall be sent to a special fund set up for Doug & Fran's son Evan minus the shipping costs of course. Please enjoy the music!

The rest of Disc One Doug Walker, Mike Jackson, Chris Phinney, Len Pace, Reginald Taylor & a guitarist that I cannot remember. Sound Board recordings by RB. Disc Two was the second side of the cassette & a poke at the folks who ran the sound board when we played live around town.
